On our Project ELÉCTRICO journey, we had the opportunity to do some recording in Central Texas. Since I was born in San Antonio and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, I wanted to have some Texas musicians contribute to our recording adventure.
Alan Haynes – Austin, TX
Alan Haynes is an American Texas Blues guitarist. Alan has been playing professionally since the 1970s and has performed with Blues legends that include Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, Albert Collins, Albert King, The Fabulous Thunderbirds (1980’s version with Jimmie Vaughan), Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, and Otis Rush among others. He resides in Austin, Texas.
Matt Slagle – Austin, TX (Bass)
Matt is an accomplished bassist and composer from Austin, TX.
Ron Wikso – Austin, TX
Ron currently lives in the Austin, TX area with his son, Jesse. He currently divides his professional time between live touring gigs and session work. Besides the traditional studio scene, he does a lot of session work for clients from all over the world, at his own private studio.
He started playing drums at the age of 7 and studied privately with Larry Ramsden while growing up on Long Island. Along with his private studies, Ron played in several local bands and began playing his first professional gigs by the time he was 12. He also participated in as many of the school bands, orchestras and choirs as he could in an effort to learn as much as possible about music.
Patricia Vonne – Austin, TX
Patricia Vonne is an American singer and actress. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Vonne, born Patricia Rodriguez, moved to New York City in 1990-2001 to pursue her artistic ambitions. She worked extensively in Europe and America and was featured in national/international commercials, and film work.
Willie Oteri – Austin, TX
Willie Oteri is an anomaly in the music world having survived tragedy and financial hardship that forced him to quit music as a profession in the early part of his career. After nearly ten years away from performing and most of this time not even owning an instrument Oteri came back to music, first part time then full. Older, wiser and as eager and excited as anyone to again have a life of music.
Dave Laczko – Austin, TX
Dave and his trumpet have been on the Austin, Texas Jazz scene for decades including the Brarons of Rhythm and 14 years as a Jazz DJ for KAZI radio and recordings with WD-41, JA Deane, Scott Amendola and Shrunken Head Shop. WD-41 currently havd a top ranked video and mp3 at All About Jazz. Their latest release was a Top 3 editors pick at Guitar Player Magazine.
Dave Laczko is that vital spice that makes the sauce complete. He’s that kick, that surprise, that part of the experience that makes it unforgettable.
Headed for a Remote Recording Session in Texas
When heading off for a remote recording session, it is important to always give the artist the best seat in the car.
Dot Todman – Los Angeles
From Toronto, Canada, this dynamic, and inspiring teacher works as one of Los Angeles’s top vocal coaches. Dot began teaching music at age 14, when her music teacher saw her natural gift for teaching and put her in charge of writing original music for, and directing a 90-piece girl’s choir. At age 15, Dot became a professional singer when she was hired by the city to perform at annual downtown fairs. By the time she was 18, she was teaching 5th and 6th grade Music and Drama at a local Elementary School, and privately coaching students to sing.
